Structured programmes, designed around how children really learn

ETIA Academy courses are delivered through structured 12-module programmes, designed to be completed flexibly over a term and adapted to each child’s pace.

Rather than teaching subjects in isolation, each programme is built around project-based learning that develops core academic skills through meaningful, real-world contexts.

What learning looks like across our programmes

Each course carefully integrates:

  • Maths – problem-solving, reasoning and real-life application
  • English – reading, writing, communication and presenting ideas
  • Science – enquiry, investigation and scientific thinking
  • Humanities – geography, history and understanding the world
  • Computing – digital skills, research and creation
  • Life Skills & PSHE – confidence, collaboration and reflection

Learning is sequenced to build understanding gradually and always works towards a clear, purposeful final outcome — such as a project, presentation or created piece of work.

Academically grounded, flexibly delivered

Our programmes are informed by the British National Curriculum, while remaining flexible and child-centred.

You can explore how learning is structured across year groups, and how skills develop over time, in our ETIA Curriculum Overview.

Families may choose to:

  • Complete individual courses
  • Or follow a full year pathway, aligned to their child’s stage and needs

Learning That Can Be Officially Recognised — Without Pressure

Official Recognition Built Into Our Courses

At ETIA Academy, learning is flexible, child-paced and project-based — but that doesn’t mean it goes unrecognised.

Where appropriate, learning completed through our courses can lead to official certification via the AQA Unit Award Scheme.

Rather than exams or tests, children earn recognition by:

  • Completing meaningful projects
  • Demonstrating skills through everyday learning
  • Building evidence naturally as part of their course

This means children can learn at their own pace while still gaining nationally recognised certificates that celebrate progress, effort and achievement.

Recognition is woven into learning — never rushed, forced or exam-driven.

Parent FAQs – AQA Unit Award Scheme

A quick guide to how recognition works, and how we keep learning calm and pressure-free.

Is ETIA Academy exam-based?

No. There are no exams or tests. Recognition is based on everyday learning and project work.

Does every child complete AQA units?

Not necessarily. AQA Unit Awards are used when appropriate and in the child’s best interests.

Are the certificates officially recognised?

Yes. AQA Unit Awards are nationally recognised and issued by AQA.

Will this add pressure to my child’s learning?

No. Evidence comes from learning they are already doing — nothing extra is added.

How does this work with self-paced learning?

Units are completed flexibly. Children work towards recognition when they are ready, not against a fixed deadline.

Can you explain this before we enrol?

Of course. We’re happy to talk it through and advise what’s right for your child.
